2-7 Triple Draw
2-7 Triple Draw is a poker game in which the low poker hand wins the pot at showdown. In other words, it is a form of "lowball". It is a "draw" game, meaning that you are dealt five cards, and may discard from zero to five of them on the draw, and receive that number of replacement cards. The game is played with a standard 52-card pack with no jokers and aces are always high.
How to play 2-7 triple draw
Due to the high number of cards that can be dealt out in each round a maximum of six players take part in each round. Here is a rundown on how a to play a o2-7 triple draw. A round starts with each player receiving five cards face down. The player to the left of the house dealer receives the dealer button, a white plastic maker that indicates the dealer position. The dealer position only indicates betting positions and the button rotates clockwise around the table with each round.
After players have checked their cards without showing them to their opponents a round of betting begins with the player to the left of the dealer putting down the mandatory small blind. This is half the table minimum. The next player along clockwise must put down a big blind equal to the table minimum. After that betting continues clockwise around the table with each player either calling previous bets, raising, or folding.
When all bets have been called each player can choose to discard as many or as little of their five cards as they want. This begins with the player to the left of the dealer button and continues clockwise around the table. A player who decides to keep all of his or her cards is said to be standing pat. For each player the house dealer removes the discarded cards from play without showing them to the rest of the table and deals fresh cards from the deck. Discarded cards are not returned to the deck.
When all players have received their cards there is another round of betting this time beginning with the player to the left of the dealer button. Betting then continues clockwise around the table among the players still left in the round. When all bets are called there is another draw as in the previous round and again players can discard as many cards as they wish.
A third and final draw follows with another round of betting as in the previous round. When all bets are called there is showdown with players comparing cards for the lowest hand.
The best possible hand is 2-3-4-5-7 because flushes and straights are ranked in final hands and aces are always high. The next two best hands are 2-3-4-6-7 with no flush and 2-3-5-6-7 with no flush.
2-7 Triple Draw is a game that puts a lot of focus on reading your opponents because unlike other poker games you do not get to see any of their cards. After all, all you have to work with is the number of cards they are drawing and the expressions on their faces.
